The flat back is so much more practical than the typical round eyelet and canvas hats more widely available. Just a quick sizing note: I originally ordered a 0-6 month size for my 9 week old and sent it back for the size up -- it fit, but was already seeming a bit snug. The manufacturer's tag actually labels the smallest size as preemie - 6 months and the next size up as 0-12 months. (My daughter has an average to slightly above average head size.)
