They are soft and very useful because they can be a gown at night for easy diapering, and a jump suit during the day or when you want to take your baby out and need the car seat straps to go where they need to go. I hadn't realized this was an issue until a friend pointed it out. You need to be able to have your baby in outfits where the car seat straps can easily go between the baby's legs. This product is very smartly designed and therefore, not a waste of money.
